Living Intentionally: Series Intro
Day 1
Life is way too short to just let it happen!
Few of us actually just let life happen. If you’re reading this, it’s even more likely that you have some desire to take control of your life. However, despite having the desire for it, we all often fall into the rut of routine and comfort. Unfortunately, routine and comfort can easily distract us from living intentionally and focusing our lives in the direction that it’s supposed to go.
Being intentional speaks of deliberation, it implies making plans of action, setting goals and measuring success. According to Joshua Harris, ‘we cannot live in the future, but neglecting our current obligations will disqualify us for tomorrow’s responsibilities.’ In other words, it is true that we have no idea what tomorrow might bring, if it may come at all, but ignorance of the future does not justify not being deliberate in the way that you live in the present. That is what learning and living with intention is all about. It’s lining up our routines and habits with our goals and not with our comforts.
It’s easy to slip into a comfort zone; to settle for a steady paycheck over a difficult long term task, or to take the easier path to life than challenge ourselves with the more difficult lonely road. Living with intention is about strategy, it’s about understanding that life is short and there is no way you can truly do everything there is to do, so you choose to focus on what gives you optimal results purposefully. Living intentionally, is about your purpose, and lining up your life so that it constantly engages with it.
And so begins the Series “Living Intentionally”.
For the next few days I am going to explore with you the concept of living intentionally in key areas of your life. Like most of the content on Royalty Press these will be faith and growth focused.
